Let me start this post off by saying that today at my desk has been one of the slowest and hardest days of my life lol. Also this post will be longer than 500 words. Deal with it.
I went to see the only and only Super Duper KYLE and his Super Duper crew yesterday in Charlotte, NC. Big ups to my line sister for putting me on. I always like to give credit to my sources for giving me musical happiness. When I found out that KYLE was touring and coming to my side of the world I hopped on a ticket like white on rice. KYLE is an indie rapper (my favorite kind of rapper) with a unique swag. His first album, Beautiful Loser, debuted on August 5th, 2013 with a track list full of awesome, relatable, and fun songs.
First things first, tickets were more than reasonably priced. $15. Dassit. I’d pay that just to get out of the house to go see a terrible movie or something. Well done, KYLE. I decided to spring for his VIP Meet and Greet package because it didn’t cost too much more and he can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes. On the way to Charlotte, (I live 1.5 hours away in South Carolina) I played nothing but the album and songs he was featured on. If you are not on the KYLE wave I suggest you get on soon because this guy is gonna BLOW.
The Meet and Greet took place before the show and my friend, Kaila, and I waited in 95 degree heat to meet him. Real dedication. As the line dwindled down to us we tried to practice what we were going to say to him. I brought him fruit snacks but it was so hot outside they actually melted. When I walked up to him I totally froze and he gave me the biggest smile and hug. I almost melted. He is such a nice guy and he loves each and every one of his fans. He took the time to take pictures and autograph something for each fan at the Meet and Greet. After coming down from that high I snagged a picture with Super Duper Brick and waited for the opening acts. The best one was Nige Hood. Click his link and check him out.
THEN THE SHOW STARTED. The crowd was ready for King Wavy. He started off with his most recent and popular hit, “Don’t Wanna Fall In Love”. When the beat dropped the crowd erupted. He brought out a wide variety of different ages and races with a solid male-to-female ratio. Everyone loves KYLE. I tried to keep track of the setlist for you but sorry I was too busy surfing with King Wavy. Speaking of which he crowd surfed NUMEROUS times ending with him surfing on his ACTUAL surfboard.
I give this show a 20 out of 10. Good price, show and crowd energy through the roof, and breaking barriers in audience diversity. What more can you ask for? If you’re into artists that are true to themselves and love music, hit up his SoundCloud, Spotify, or store to purchase his music. You WON’T regret it.
**Don’t forget about my BINACT playlist on SoundCloud to check out all the artists mentioned on the blog!! KYLE if and when you read this, I’m sorry my fruit snacks melted.
