Happy Who Dat Wednesday!
The highly anticipated DMCA free independent artist compilation is here! I decided to put this together because the big boys in the music industry have been cracking down on online content creators for using copyrighted music. I don’t think it’s fair but what else can I do but provide a solution, especially for live streamers! No more pitched or sped up tunes (at least for the length of the playlist).
I chose 4 popular categories where artists of color take over: Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B, Electronic, and Rock. My plan is to add more artists to this on a regular basis so artists, you know what to do.
Hip-Hop/Rap
Panama Jane - I wish I could remember how I stumbled upon this edgy queen. Pretty sure it was on Instagram by way of Quirktastic. I LOVE her Southern flows and anime references. The South always has something to say. Period.
The Uncanny Imp - A Riffs and Rhymes intro sparked the awesome connection between Imp and I (take note, I don’t play favorites but Imp always submits and follows instructions when the inbox is open). Another Southerner is making the list for their eclectic wordplay and production choices.
Jason Chu - In 2020, I collabed with Quirktastic for a month doing artist chats to shed awareness on living through two pandemics and how music keeps us semi-sane. Jason was one of my favorite interviews. His latest release is fun and a little different from his 2020 project. You should listen to both.
